During the 3rd 'Camp in Defense of Barroso', held from 10th to 15th of August in the village of Covas do Barroso in Northern Portugal, MINOB presented a multi-lingual poster session of case studies to the Portuguese and international audience of residents, visitors, activists and NGOs.
Selected from the over 100 case studies on social and environmental non-compliance of extractive raw materials projects in Portugal and Spain, the focus was highlighting especially projects that gained tailwind with the energy transition and the recent European boom of raw materials projects for metals such as copper, tungsten or lithium.

During the days of the camp, visitors took great interest in the poster session and their presence gave rise to various technical and also informal discussions on the current state of environmental and social compliance of mining and quarrying in Europe.
